Significance

Enantioselective conjugate additions of alkynes are exceptionally difficult. Recent progress has been made toward this goal using highly reactive Michael acceptors. The authors present the first example of enantioselective terminal alkyne conjugate addition to unsaturated thioamides, a diverse and easily derivatized Michael acceptor.
