Significance

Clivonine is a lycorenine-type ­Amaryllidaceae alkaloid that was isolated from Clivia miniata in 1956 by Wildman. There has been one previous total synthesis reported by Irie in 1973 (J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun. 1973, 302).
