Significance

In the presence of a copper(I) salt, cross-coupling reactions of alkynyl boronates with acid chlorides readily take place in aprotic solvents giving rise to the corresponding conjugated ynones in good yields. This reaction is a synthetically useful, straightforward carbon-carbon bond formation reaction using stable, non-toxic boron compounds.
