Abstract

The morphological and anatomical characters of Antirrhinum majus L. are described and illustrated. The diagnostic anatomical characters are enumerated; they include long, unicellular, striated covering trichomes and papillose epidermis of corolla, glandular trichomes of leaf, stem, bract, calyx, corolla, filament and style epidermises, outer epidermis of ovary with frequent glandular trichomes having clavate, multicellular heads and a spherical swelling below, pollen grains, corolla mesophyll pink in alkali and green in acid mountants, leaf and stem mesophyll orange in alkali and yellow in acid mountants.
