RELATION OF THE TYRAMINE CONTENT IN PSITTACANTHUS CUNEIFOLIUS AND IN SOME HOST PLANTS

Abstract

In 9 samples of Psittacanthus cuneifolius (Loranthaceae) obtained hemiparasiting from Acacia caven Mol, Celtis spinosa Spreng, Geoffroea decorticans (Gill) Burkart, Gleditschia triacanthus L., Jodina rhombifolia Hook, et Arn., Larrea divaricata C a v., Prosopis alba Griseb., Robinia pseudoacacia L. and Schinus longifolius (Lindl.) S peg., we observed tyramine–like substance/s by pharmacological and Chromatographie means. These substances were observed only in the following hosts: Robinia pseudoacacia, Prosopis alba, Larrea divaricata, Acacia caven and Jodina rhombifolia.

These results suggest that P. c, on account of being a hemiparasite, would make its own tyramine and/or tyramine–like substances.

Zusammenfassung

In 9 Mustern von Psittacanthus cuneifolius (Loranthaceae), einem Hemiparasiten, die von Acacia caven Mol, Celtis spinosa Spreng, Geofjroea decorticans (Gill) Burkart, Gleditschia triacanthus L., Jodina rhombifolia Hook, et Arn., Larrea divaricata Cav., Prosopis alba Griseb., Robinia pseudoacacia L. und Schinus longifolius (Li ndl.) S peg. gewonnen wurden, stellte man das Vorkommen von Tyramin–ähnlichen Substanzen pharmakologisch und chromatographisch fest. Sie wurden nur in den folgenden Arten gefunden: Robinia pseudoacacia, Prosopis alba, Larrea divaricata, Acacia caven und Jodina rhombifolia.

Diese Resultate deuten an, daß Psittacanthus cuneifolius, da er ein Hemiparasit ist, sein eigenes Tyramin und/oder Tyramin–ähnliche Substanzen produziert.
