Abstract

Species of ferns of Trinidad yielded methanolic extracts, fractions of which were assayed for antibacterial activity. Such activity was present in the crude extracts of 34 out of 44 species, but did not correlate with the presence of alkaloid, saponin, steroid–triterpenoid or leuco-anthocyanin constituents.
