Significance

Fluvibactin and vibriobactin are ­siderophores isolated from low-iron cultures of Vibrio fluvialis and Vibrio cholerae. They are Fe(III)-specific chelators that facilitate Fe(III) ion-specific uptake. The synthesis of fluvibactin and vibriobactin (not shown) features the use of a highly efficient Mo(VI)-catalyzed dehydrative cyclization of the N-acyl threonine G to give the oxazoline H.
