Significance

1,5-Substituted tetrazoles are valuable precursors in organic synthesis, specifically those of conformationally constrained peptidomimetics. The enantioselective synthesis of 5-(1-hydroxyalkyl)tetrazoles is reported to be the first example by any route to date. This report compli-ments the previous report of an aluminum salen catalyzed Passerini three-component reaction (P-3CR) (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2008, 47, 388).
