Intermittent hydrarthrosis, also referred to as periodic synoviosis, or periodic hydrarthritis, is a rare autoinflammatory condition that manifests as periodic, unprovoked, and transient arthritis affecting usually the knee joint [1]. It is characterized by recurring episodes of temporary fluid accumulation. Finding an effective treatment is challenging. NSAIDs and intra-articular steroids are usually not useful. Currently, there is no established standard treatment for this condition. However, there have been reports of successful treatment outcomes using colchicine, hydroxychloroquine, and anakinra [2] [3] [4].
