Den harmlosen Schnupfen oder eine primäre bakterielle Rhinitis gibt es beim Hund als Grund für chronischen Nasenausfluss nicht. Eine blinde antibiotische oder symptomatische Therapie ist daher nicht sinnvoll und führt nur zu Zeitverlust und einer Verschlechterung der ursächlichen Erkrankung. Stattdessen wird eine zügige Diagnostik in Narkose, möglichst mittels CT und Endoskopie empfohlen.
