Laparoscopic-assisted cryptorchidectomy in a cat

Summary

A 21-month-old male castrated domestic short hair cat was presented due to suspected unilateral abdominal cryptorchidism. Unilateral abdominal cryptorchidism was confirmed with ultrasonography and laparoscopic-assisted cryptorchidectomy was performed. laparoscopicassisted cryptorchidectomy is a simple, fast and safe method for the treatment of abdominal cryptorchidism in dogs and cats, offering the benefits of minimal invasive surgery, which is still underreported in the veterinary literature.

Zusammenfassung

Ein 21 Monate alter Kater wurde mit dem Verdacht auf einen unilateralen abdominalen Kryptorchismus vorgestellt. Der abdominale Kryptorchismus konnte sonographisch bestätigt werden und es erfolgte eine laparoskopisch assistierte Kryptorchidektomie. Die laparoskopisch assistierte Kryptrochidektomie ist ein einfaches Verfahren, das sich bei Hund und Katze schnell und sicher durchführen lässt. Diese Methode bietet die vielen Vorteile der minimalinvasiven Chirurgie und findet bisher in der Literatur zu wenig Beachtung.
