Abstract
Echinococcosis of human pathogenetic relevance is a very rare disease in Europe. The
vertebral manifestation of the latter zoonosis constitutes one percent of all cases.
Intraspinal echinococcosis appears worldwide just sporadically, whereas extradurally
located cysts are identified more often than intradurally located ones. The diagnostic
and specific therapeutic consequences of this very seldom entity are discussed based
on a case report.
