Nähe, Chaos und Krisen: Was macht die Arbeit auf der psychiatrischen Akutstation attraktiv

Die vorliegende Arbeit begründet die Anziehungskraft stationärer akutpsychiatrischer Pflege und erörtert die Notwendigkeit einer Neubewertung der Pflege in diesem Bereich, um weiterhin zuverlässige Fachpflegekräfte für seelisch schwer akutkranke, verletzliche Menschen gewinnen zu können. Die Diskussion bezieht sich auf eine ethnografische Studie, die auf einer innerstädtischen psychiatrischen Abteilung in England durchgeführt wurde. Zugleich legt die Arbeit die Eignung der angewandten Methode zum Verständnis pflegerischer Arbeit dar. Wir stellen zwei übergreifende Themen unserer Ergebnisse heraus: Die Kontextrealität einer Akutstation heute und die Motivation der Pflegekräfte, im Setting der psychiatrischen Akutstation zu arbeiten. Zu Ersterem zählt die Verantwortung der Pflegenden für das gesamte Stationsmilieu, zu Letzterem gehören „Beruhigung durch Nähe” und „Überleben und erfolgreich handeln in Chaos und Krisen.” Zusammenfassend sind wir der Meinung, dass trotz aller Unbeliebtheit des Milieus einer akutpsychiatrischen Station letztendlich die sehr differenzierten Kompetenzen der Pflegenden die Gesundheitsversorgung für die Mehrheit der Servicenutzer in diesem Bereich sicherstellen.
