Diabetische Patientinnen und Patienten sind nicht geschützt vor zusätzlichen rheumatischen Erkrankungen - und nicht immer ist es leicht, rechtzeitig daran zu denken. In jedem Fall sollten überwärmte, massiv schmerzhafte und weich geschwollene Gelenke als Alarmsymptome gelten, ebenso frühmorgens betonte Schmerzen mit über 30 Minuten dauernden Problemen, die Faust zu schließen. Diagnostisch helfen unerklärte Entzündungszeichen häufig mehr als kompliziertere Tests. Diese Übersichtsarbeit versucht, die wesentlichen entzündlich-rheumatischen Erkrankungen kurz darzustellen und die relevanten diagnostischen Hinweise herauszuarbeiten.
