Zusammenfassung

Der vorliegende Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der chirurgisch-kieferorthopädischen Behandlung retinierter oberer Eckzähne. Er beschreibt Kriterien, mit deren Hilfe der richtige Zeitpunkt und das geeignete chirurgische Verfahren für die Freilegung von labial und palatinal retinierten Eckzähnen ermittelt werden können. Diese Information unterstützt die umfassende Diagnostik und die Wahl geeigneter kieferorthopädischer Maßnahmen und führt nicht nur zu besseren ästhetischen und parodontalen Ergebnissen, sondern sichert auch die Stabilität ehemals retinierter Eckzähne innerhalb der Zahnreihe.

Abstract

This article discusses the surgical and orthodontic management of impacted maxillary canines. It describes which criteria to evaluate to determine the appropriate timing and method for uncovering of both labial and palatal impactions. This information reaffirms the process of proper diagnosis and intervention in order to enhance not only the esthetics and periodontal health of previously impacted teeth, but to insure their stability within the dental arch.
