Renal artery angioplasty and stenting is the first-line therapy for many patients with renal insufficiency or hypertension caused by atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis. Unfortunately, like all stents, renal artery stents are prone to restenosis. When this process occurs, repeated intervention is usually necessary.
