Die Episiotomie ist noch immer der häufigste geburtshilfliche Eingriff. An dieser
Tatsache hat auch die in Fach- und Laienpresse scharf geübte Kritik bis heute nur
wenig geändert. Die behaupteten Vorteile der Episiotomie halten einer kritischen Prüfung
mittels klinischer Studien jedoch nicht stand.
