Die Fraktur des ipsilateralen Femur ist die dritthäufigste Komplikation

Die dritthäufigste Komplikation nach Implantation einer Hüfttotalendoprothese ist die Femurfraktur; die Gesamtzahl dieser Frakturen steigt mit der zunehmenden Anzahl endoprothetischer Eingriffe.
nach Implantation einer Hüfttotalendoprothese. Bei weitgehend konstanter Inzidenz von 1 % nach Primärimplantation und 2 - 3 % nach Revisionseingriffen nimmt die Gesamtzahl der periprothetischen Femurfrakturen mit der steigenden Anzahl endoprothetischer Eingriffe kontinuierlich zu. Die im Vergleich zur aseptischen Revision deutlich höhere Mortalitäts- und Infektionsrate unterstreicht die Notwendigkeit der im Einzelfall optimierten Therapie. In diese Entscheidungsfindung fließen die Frakturlokalisation, der Frakturtyp, die Stabilität des Implantates und die Knochenqualität als lokale Faktoren ein. Fällt die Entscheidung zur operativen Intervention, sind neben allgemeinen patientenbezogenen Faktoren auch die spezifischen Komplikationen und Ergebnisse eines Verfahrens sowie die Verfügbarkeit einzelner Techniken zu berücksichtigen.
