Summary

My first experience of “International Balint” was taking part in a demonstration group at a large International Congress in Paris. Subsequently, I was persuaded to take on the post of International Federation treasurer and I have been closely involved ever since. The Federation was started in the early 1970s with the aim of helping Balint enthusiasts in different countries to keep in touch and share their experiences. An international Congress is held every two or three years and these are very enjoyable and inspiring events. The Federation helps to encourage the formation of new national Balint Socieities and sets standards for training and accreditation of group leaders. Participation in international Balint activities helps us to make new friends and provide mutual support for colleagues who share our values.
