ABSTRACT

Small bowel obstruction is a significant problem for surgeons. Patient evaluation allows accurate and timely diagnosis. Appropriate management includes nonoperative and operative measures. Ongoing research into prevention methods holds the best hope of future improvements in adhesions and their resulting bowel obstruction.
