ABSTRACT

Fractures that involve the acetabulum and proximal femur are common. These injuries frequently occur due to high-energy trauma and may result in significant morbidity and long-standing disability, or high mortality when associated with other injuries, particularly to vascular structures. In this article, classifications pertinent to fractures of the acetabulum, hip dislocations, and fractures of the femoral neck, intertrochanteric region, and subtrochanteric region of the femur are discussed in detail with emphasis on their radiographic features.
