Microsurgical Clipping of a Type B Ophthalmic Artery Aneurysm via a Cranio-orbital Approach with Extradural Clinoidectomy
Ophthalmic artery (OA) aneurysms account for 5% of cerebral aneurysms and vary in their anatomical relationship to the OA. The optimal treatment—whether microsurgical clipping or endovascular techniques—depends on these variations. We present a case of an incidentally discovered OA aneurysm in a healthy young female, demonstrating type B morphology. Microsurgical clipping was chosen, performed via a cranio-orbital approach with an extradural clinoidectomy. The case, surgical details, and outcomes are reviewed.
