Cryoablation of Adrenal Metastasis: Optimizing Local Control and Safety
Case Presentation: This case presentation outlines the successful application of cryoablation in a 68-year-old female with a 1.5 cm renal cell carcinoma metastasis to the right adrenal gland. Utilizing two cryoablation probes under CT guidance and general anesthesia, the procedure demonstrated excellent immediate tolerance and absence of complications. While complications, including hemorrhage, were discussed, the study emphasizes the rarity of severe adverse events, highlighting cryoablation's safety compared with standard surgical procedures. Premedication with an α-blocker effectively mitigated hypertensive crises during the intervention. These findings contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting cryoablation's efficacy in achieving high local control rates with a favorable safety profile. The study underscores its potential as a comprehensive therapeutic option for adrenal metastases, providing valuable insights for future interventions.
