Welcome to the second issue of Journal of Diabetes and Endocrine Practice (JDEP) in 2023. The issue is full page-wise with an unusually small number of articles.

An editorial commentary puts the proposed change in the name of diabetes insipidus in a Middle Eastern Perspective! A comprehensive clinical review by Mussa Al Malki considers the contemporary diagnosis and management of hypopituitarism in adults.

Ali and Afandi described the prevalence of celiac disease in Syrian children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Also, a clinical vignette of an old theme demonstrated by new technology highlights the ignored marked glucocorticoid-induced hyperglycemia in a hospitalized patient uncovered retrospectively by her flash glucose monitoring.

This issue is special because a substantial part is dedicated to conference-related articles. First, the conference report by Alsaffar and colleagues highlights the recent research on X-linked hypophosphatemia at the European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology Meeting 2022. Second, the conference provides abstracts of the free communications of The Seventh Qatar Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Conference, held recently in Doha, Qatar, March 2 to 4, 3 to 5, 2023. JDEP welcomes conference highlights and abstract books from international and regional events

Gulf Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes remains committed to supporting JDEP as a worldwide open-access journal for the endocrine community, focusing on the special needs of developing regions with high scholarly publishing standards. In return, we invite and appreciate the support from our “constituency” to help defeat both predatory and commercially-motivated journalism.
