Der Leser sollte nach dem Durcharbeiten des Artikels Folgendes wissen:

▪ Hinsichtlich der Behandlungskosten chronischer Erkrankungen steht die Karies weltweit an 4. Stelle.

▪ Ein Kariesrückgang in westlichen Industriestaaten beruht auf der Verwendung fluoridierter Zahnpasten (ZP).

▪ Hoher Zuckerkonsum setzt der remineralisierenden Wirkung von Fluorid Grenzen.

▪ Zahnpasten enthalten auch antimikrobielle Wirkstoffe.

▪ In-vitro-Untersuchungen bestätigen den antimikrobiellen Effekt von Zahnpasten.
