Wachsende Mobilität und Flüchtlingsbewegungen führen zwangsläufig zu einer ethnischen Durchmischung der Kulturen. Klinische Psychologen und Psychiater finden sich heute gelegentlich in der Situation, dass ihnen von Patienten ausländischer Herkunft auf den ersten Blick fremdartig anmutende Störungsbilder präsentiert werden. Neben Ängsten, Phobien und somatoformen Störungen spielen dabei dissoziative Phänomene und Störungen eine Rolle.
