Hiroyuki Odagiri et al. Hospital volume and adverse events following esophageal endoscopic
submucosal dissection in Japan
This nationwide database study from Japan reviewed 12 899 esophageal ESD procedures
and demonstrated a significant association between volume of esophageal ESD procedures
and occurrence of complications. Further studies are needed to refine the risk factors
contributing to the higher rate of adverse events among low-volume hospitals.
