Ibnosina Journal of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Completes Fourteen Years of Age
Funding None.
This issue marks the completion of fourteen years of age by the Ibnosina Journal of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The Editorial Board is excited about this achievement. One of the major challenges of many medical journals in developing regions is repeated interruptions and/or complete discontinuation, as clearly evident during these 14 years, we have moved between three different publishers. The current publisher has a much higher caliber and international profile, and we are very optimistic about our collaboration. Although the transfer process over last year was not easy, we are pleased that the Journal continued to publish all its expected issues with no interruption since its inception in 2009, despite the onerous task of issuing six issues per year until 2019, when we reduced the frequency to quarterly. We are committed to persevering with publishing regularly, strictly adhering to the principles of scholarly publishing, and maintaining our open-access policy.
This issue has three original articles. Alhudiri et al reported a preliminary study on the frequency of influenza infections amid the COVID-19 epidemic in Libya. Bawa et al described the effect of solvent extracts of Tephrosia vogelii leaves and stem on lipid profile of poloxamer 407-induced hyperlipidemia in rats. Luffa cylindrica (Linn. M. J. Roem) reduces oxidative stress in vivo in Plasmodium berghei-infected albino mice, as reported by Idowu et al.
The two case reports illustrate an acute retropharyngeal abscess in Libyan children by Alougly et al and surgical repair of the large carotid aneurysm by Del Foco and Altaher. Finally, we congratulate the Libyan Cardiac Society for publishing their Book Abstracts of The Eighth Libyan Cardiac Society Congress held in July of 2022 in Tripoli, Libya.
We hope these articles find interested readers and make a scientific contribution to their research fields.
