Abstract

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition among females of the childbearing age group. The exact cause of PCOS is unknown and increased levels of male hormones are believed to cause anovulation. It can cause several long-term complications, including infertility, metabolic disorders and cardiovascular disorders. PCOS is diagnosed based on Rotterdam diagnostic criteria. Globally, the estimated prevalence of PCOS ranges between 5 and 15%. The prevalence in south India is 6%. In this case report, a case of PCOS successfully treated with individualised medicine Graphites is given. The improvement is evident from symptomatic relief and decreased ovarian volume on ultrasonography abdomen and pelvis after 9 months of homeopathic treatment. Subsequently, the patient conceived. Thus, homeopathic medicine was found effective in the treatment of this PCOS case.

Patient Perception

I am happy that my menstrual cycle is regularised and that I have conceived by being on homeopathic medicines which are not typically hormonal treatments. I am happy to get regular menses and pregnancy by homeopathic medicine. I am also glad that I conceived without hormonal treatment.
