This preliminary case series confirmed the safety and efficacy of a nonexposed endoscopic wall-inversion surgery (NEWS) technique for resection of subepithelial tumors of 3 cm or less in the stomach. This technique may be especially effective for tumors located at sites in the stomach where laparoscopic wedge resection is difficult with current stapling techniques, as well as for ulcerative subepithelial tumors to prevent tumor cell seeding.
