Die vorgestellte Studie hatte das Ziel ein bereits bewährtes Herstellungsverfahren für Unterkiefer-Totalprothesen im myodynamischen Gleichgewicht im Hinblick auf eine Beeinflussung der vom Patienten empfundenen mundgesundheitsbezogenen Lebensqualität und den erzielten Prothesenhalt zu untersuchen. Die Fragestellung bezog sich insbesondere auf Patienten mit vorliegender Unterkiefer-Atrophie, bei denen eine konventionelle Unterkiefer-Totalprothese nicht zur Zufriedenheit der Patienten führte und eine prothetisch-implantologische Therapie aus unterschiedlichen Gründen nicht möglich war. Die Ergebnisse der durchgeführten Studie zeigen deutlich, dass das vorgestellte konservative Verfahren eine Möglichkeit darstellt, die Lagestabilität von Unterkiefer-Totalprothesen im Falle von ungünstigen anatomischen Verhältnissen zu verbessern und die Lebensqualität der Patienten signifikant zu steigern.

It was the aim of this study to evaluate if the application of an already presented modified neutral zone technique to fabricate muscularly balanced complete lower dentures proves satisfactory for patients with atrophic lower ridges. This question was especially focused on edentulous patients who were not satisfied with their existing full lower dentures fabricated in a conventional manner and where implant therapy was not an option. As the results of this study show, edentulous patients gain a notable improvement in denture stability and a significant increase in their oral health-related quality of life.
