Harold Jacob et al. Endoscopic submucosal dissection of cecal lesions in proximity to the appendiceal orifice

This retrospective study shows effective and safe removal by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of 76 large cecal lesions close to the appendiceal orifice. A classification for lesions in this region and two ESD treatment strategies are proposed. En bloc and R0 resection rates were 94.7 % and 92.1 %, respectively. Two patients developed appendicitis, one of whom required emergency surgery.
