Diagnostik periimplantärer Erkrankungen – Ist die Erhebung klinischer Befunde ausreichend?

An der Spitze der biologischen Komplikationen von Implantaten stehen Entzündungen, wie die periimplantäre Mukositis und Periimplantitis. Diese Erkrankungen ähneln trotz einiger Unterschiede den parodontalen Entzündungen wie Gingivitis und Parodontitis. Entsprechend ist die klinische Diagnostik zur Erkennung von Vorliegen und Fortschreiten einer periimplantäre Mukositis und Periimplantitis mit Erfassung von (Taschen-)Sondierungstiefe und Sondierungsblutung (BOP) sowie der Beurteilung des röntgenologischen Knochenabbaus essenziell. Analog zu parodontalen Erkrankungen, für die sich bereits ergänzende diagnostische Möglichkeiten, wie z. B. mikrobiologische Tests sowie der aMMP-8-Nachweis oder Bestimmung eines möglichen Interleukin-Polymorphismus etabliert haben, könnten diese auch für periimplantäre Entzündungen eine zukunftsweisende Perspektive darstellen.
