Adolescence is a time of physical, psychological, and social change that is unmatched to any other time in life. In this period of reproductive transition, providing up-to-date care can have an enormous impact on the well-being of the adolescent. This issue of Seminars in Reproductive Medicine is devoted to the exploration of sexual and reproductive health in adolescence. We have invited the leading international researchers and clinicians in this field to address the latest perspectives on the diagnosis and management of reproductive health concerns in adolescents.

Volume 1 is dedicated to examining conditions that are tied to genetic, physiologic, and endocrine etiologies commonly encountered in adolescence. Volume 2 is devoted to psychosocial, reproductive, and sexual health with an eye on adolescent reproductive health care disparities encountered in the United States and globally.

Volume 1 opens with a comprehensive evaluation of disorders of puberty by Drs. Aviva Sopher, Sharon Oberfield, and Selma Witchel followed by Drs. Swetha Naroji, Veronica Gomez-Lobo, and Courtney Finlayson's systematic review of disorders of sexual development. The evaluation and management of abnormal menstrual bleeding in adolescents is discussed by Drs. Elina Holopainen and Kaisu Luiro. Dr. Angelica Lindén Hirschberg provides an interesting and timely review of female hyperandrogenism and elite sports.

While the latest diagnosis and treatment paradigms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in adolescence are reviewed by Drs. Anju Joham and Alexis Peña (available online only), non-PCOS hyperandrogenic disorders in adolescents are contrasted by Drs. Christine Burt Solorzano, Cassandra Kirschner, Rebeca Esquivel-Zuniga, and Christopher McCartney. The complex impact of obesity on reproductive function is discussed by Drs. Victoria Elliott, Stephanie Waldrop, Pattara Wiromrat, Anne-Marie Carreau, and Melanie Cree Green. Then, a cutting-edge report on fertility preservation in adolescents is imparted by Drs. Wendy Vitek, Michelle Vu, and Snigdha Alur-Gupta. Finally, volume 1 is rounded out by Drs. Kelly Curran and Paulette D. Pitt's insightful discussion of eating disorders and their reproductive impact.

All authors have provided the most current management strategies as well as their insights into the future of reproductive health care challenges in adolescents. We hope that you find this up-to-date compendium a benefit to your adolescent patients.
