Zusammenfassung

Auf einer Kinderintensivstation ist die Nierenersatztherapie bei pädiatrischen Patienten im Vergleich zur Erwachsenenmedizin ein eher seltener praktiziertes Verfahren. Die Häufigkeit des Einsatzes der Nierenersatztherapie bei Kindern hat sich jedoch in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich erhöht. Es ist ein Wandel zu beobachten; nicht nur primär renale Ursachen führen zur Anwendung in der Pädiatrie, sondern es kommt im Zusammenhang mit komplexen Krankheitsbildern und fortgeschrittenen Möglichkeiten der Intensivtherapie häufiger zum (transienten) Ausfall der Nierenfunktion und der Notwendigkeit der Anwendung entsprechender Therapieoptionen.
