Phytotherapie in der nachstationären Versorgung bei chronischen Rückenschmerzen

Zusammenfassung

Die 7 deutschen Krankenhäuser, die über eine Abteilung für Naturheilkunde in der vollstationären Versorgung verfügen, ­haben eine multizentrische Beobachtungsstudie zum Einnahmeverhalten von Phytopharmaka bei chronischen Rückenschmerzen im Rahmen naturheilkundlicher Komplextherapie mit insgesamt 231 Pa­tienten durchgeführt. Die zentrale Frage der Studie waren die Gründe für die Nichtweiterbehandlung mit Naturheilmitteln nach dem stationären Aufenthalt. Etwa die Hälfte der Patienten gab an, die pflanzlichen Arzneimittel nach Entlassung selbst abgesetzt zu haben. Für 32,7 % der Befragten waren die Kosten zu hoch und 30,8 % gaben an, dass der Arzt sie nicht weiter verordnet habe. Eine vom nachbehandelnden Arzt vorgeschlagene Umstellung auf andere Medikamente wurde von 13,5 % genannt. Nur 7,7 % gaben an, selber auf günstigere pflanzliche Mittel umgestellt zu haben.

Summary

Phytotherapy in the subsequent in-patient care for chronic back pain: Results from a multicentre observational study

The article reports about a multicentre observational study in 7 German hospitals within the departments of naturopathy with fully functional in-patient care. The ­objective was to highlight patient behaviour regarding the administration of phytotherapeutic remedies for chronic back pain after their discharge from hospital. This was carried out in the context of a naturopathic treatment complex with a total of 231 patients. The reason for the discontinuation of treatment with natural remedies after hospitalization was the central question of the study. About half of the patients stated that they discontinued the use of the herbal remedies on their own volition. 32.7% of the respondents quoted the cost of the drugs, which they felt was too high whereas 30.8% indicated that the family doctor had not prescribed the remedy used in the hospital. 13.5% indicated they had changed to other medications as proposed by the doctor. Only 7.7% stated they switched to less expensive phytotherapeutic ­medicaments without consulting the doctor.
