Indian Journal of Neurotrauma—A New Inning

It is a huge honor as well as a challenge to take over the helm of Indian Journal of Neurotrauma (IJNT) in the year 2019. The journal is being published for almost 15 years now and has been able to make a reputation for itself in this period. This is only because of the selfless hard work put in by previous editors that the journal is indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index, Indmed, EBSCO, and ProQuest. My vision is to have it indexed in Pubmed before the end of my tenure in 2022. However, as the saying goes—vision without execution is hallucination–and accordingly certain conscious decisions have been taken to ensure that the journal gets the recognition it rightfully deserves.

First, it has been decided to make IJNT “Open Access” with effect from January 2020. This means that articles will be freely accessible on the journal site without any subscription charges, thus improving visibility and access to the journal worldwide.

Second, with the primary goal of having the journal come out regularly and on time, the frequency of the journal has been decreased to 2 per year. This will also help us concentrate on the quality of the content in IJNT.

Third, the Neurotrauma Society of India has committed to continue to wholeheartedly support the publication cost of IJNT for the foreseeable future, an extremely important step for the viability and vitality of the journal.

Last, but not the least, we plan to add new features to the journal to make it more readable, educational, and most importantly relevant in today’s world of data overload.

The issue you are holding is a special issue focusing on spinal trauma and we have especially curated invited articles from the leading luminaries in this field for you and we hope to bring you many more special issues of IJNT in the near future.
