The goal of the examination was to compare the results of the feasibility the f-TCD und the f-MRT techniques.

The f-TCD was carried out on 70 patients with pharmacoresistant epilepsies of different etiology with and without cognitive impairment, age 4 to 22. In addition 40 of those patients already had an f-MRT examination to compare to.

The useful outcome was in 48/70 (68%) of the f-TCD-Patients and 25/40 (62%) of the f-MRT-Patients. We could analyze the results of both examinations in 19 patients. The same results were found in 12/19 children.

The f-TCD is the easy-to-use and low-impact method especially for children with epilepsy in preschool age and with cognitive impairment.
