Fibrin(ogen) Breakdown Products Compared in Mothers and their Newborn Infants
Publication History
Publication Date:
22 May 2019 (online)
The results of fibrin(ogen)-breakdown-products (FDP) during delivery and newborns are inconclusive and dependent on the technique used. The present study was performed by using the TRCHII (Merskey, CI., Kleiner, G. J. and Johnson, Blood 17, 1, 1966). The concentration was less than 2.5 μg fibrinogen equivalents/ml serum before and after delivery and in the cord blood of the term infant. There was no difference in women who received epidural anaesthesia on oxytocin induction. In contrast FDP increased during an induction with prostaglandins in mothers and their newborn babies. The concentration of FDP was also increased in prematures and in asphyctic babies. Twin gestation revealed and increased in the mother but not in the cord blood of the twins.
