Analysis of TMM examination results in 185 patients with otitis media

    Objective:

    To detect the ETS of 185 patients with otitis media by TMM and analyze the role of TMM in the diagnosis and treatment of otitis media.

    Methods:

    the ET function of 185 patients with different types of otitis media was examined by TMM, including 80 cases of chronic suppurative otitis media (116 sides) in group A,78 cases of secretory otitis media (128 sides) in group B, 13 cases of cholesteatoma of middle ear (16 sides) in group C, and 14 cases of pure tympanic membrane perforation in group D (15 sides). The database establishment and statistical analysis in this study were all completed by SPSS17.0 software, and the comparison of the data of affected ear and normal ear in the same group was completed by t test, and P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

    Results:

    the average score of affected ear was 4.69 for group A, 4.84 for normal ear, 3.64 for group B, 4.61 for normal ear, 3.56 for group C, 5.10 for normal ear, 4.53 for D, 4.85 for normal ear. All groups of patients had higher ETS of normal ear than affected ear. PB = 0.012, PC = 0.031, PB and PC < 0.05, when the t-test of the mean of the two samples was compared between the infected ear and the normal ear. PA = 0.510, PD = 0.486, PA and PD > 0.05.

    Conclusion:

    ETD is often associated with secretory otitis media and middle ear cholesteatoma. ETD is closely related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of secretory otitis media and middle ear cholesteatoma. However, the relationship between ETD and chronic suppurative otitis media and simple tympanic membrane perforation is still unclear at present. The application of TMM to evaluate the ET function of otitis media patients is a simple, economical, rapid and non-invasive method, which is easy for the subjects to cooperate and relatively accurate.
