Since 1998, a total of 212 patients of pathologically proven aspergillosis of anterior/middle cranial floor were managed at our neurosciences center. We administered antifungal agents including Amphotericin B and Voriconazole to all of our cases. More than 80% of cases underwent endoscopic approach to establish pathology.
About 50% patients underwent anterior cranial fossa repair using pedicled pericranial grafts so as to disconnect rhinological source of spread of aspergillosis to intracranial compartment. Long-term outcome has improved significantly in later years and is not as nihilistic as previously assumed.
