Summary

Investigations were performed on the effects of elinin on blood coagulation. It was found that elinin exerts significant anticoagulant activity. This was demonstrated by an one-stage re calcification test, prothrombin consumption, thromboplastin and thrombin generation. The conclusion was that the anticoagulant activity of EL is probably due to the high molecular weight of its molecule.
