A frequent and all too fatal occurrence in patients with cancer, liver metastasis,
and their management has undergone substantial change in recent years. Improvements
with chemotherapeutic agents, advances in surgical techniques, and exciting changes
within minimally invasive liver-directed therapies have all contributed to marked
improvements and prolongation in overall survival of patients with liver metastasis.
Earlier detection and the ability to more closely follow these patients with a variety
of diagnostic and prognostic imaging techniques have also facilitated improved long-term
survival.
Authored by experts within the field of liver metastasis, this special issue of Digestive Disease Interventions aims to present some of the most current developments in this rapidly evolving field.
