Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the second issue of the Ultrasound International Open journal. We are indeed very happy and proud to announce this second issue of UIO
in 2015, which is now online. It includes the following topics, backed by original
articles:
-
“Point-of-Care Clinical Ultrasound for Medical Students” describes the endevours of
ultrasound education based on both an e-learning course and practical hands-on-training,
with the aim of assessment of e-learning outcomes based on point-of-care ultrasound
protocols. A considerable improvement in practical skills of medical students followed,
even though they had no previous ultrasound experience.
-
“Positive Predictive Value of Abdominal Sonografie in the Diagnosis of Ischemic Colitis”
describes the diagnostic value of transabdominal ultrasound, using colonoscopy as
the reference standard. The article reports on the positive predictive value of the
clinical-sonographic diagnosis of ischemic colitis which was 87.5%.
-
“The Posterior Cerebral Artery and its Main Cortical Branches dentified with Noninvasive
Transcranial Color-Coded Duplex Sonografie” presents an interesting approach for measurements
of flow parameters at rest and during visual stimulation, possible in 97.5% of healty
subjects.
The same issue includes other interesting case reports, as well as experimental work
and preclinical protcols.
We sincerely hope that the readers will find this issue exciting and we are looking
forward to receiving further submissions to this young and dynamic e-journal!
