This in vitro-study compares manual production to CAD / CAM production of indirect composite inlays. Each 10 inlays were built for both groups and were adapted into a cavity of an artificial metal tooth. Silicone replicas of the cement gaps were made. The thicknesses of these replicas were measured using a light reflecting microscope. It could be shown that the precision of the inlays which were manually produced was significally better (p < 0,001) than the precision of the CAD / CAM inlays.
