Komplikationen bei der TEE – wie vermeiden?

Abstract

TEE represents today a valuable and generally safe diagnostic tool for the diagnostic evaluation of structural heart disease and for guiding of structural interventional procedures. It can be performed at low risk. Although TEE is a semi-invasive method, complications are rare. TEE should be performed only by physicians who are familiar with endoscopic techniques and are aware of the contraindications. The benefit and risk ratio should be assessed in all patients before performing TEE.
