The recent report on “Screening of Diabetic Foot” is very interesting.[1] Elsharawy et al found that “prevalence of diabetic patients with risk of foot ulceration in surgical inpatients was high[1].” In fact, screening of diabetic foot should be done in any elderly. On the basis of this report, the interesting question is on the preoperative preparation. The diabetic patient should be well prepared and the existence of diabetic food should be easily detected before surgery. The diabetic foot might be the sign of poor glycemic control that implies need for good preoperative diabetic care.[2] The high prevalence of diabetic foot might reflect the poor quality of preoperative care in the setting.
