Abstract

Venous thrombembolism is an entity comprising deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Minimally invasive interventional treatment modalities provide the possibility to reduce the clot burden, which causes acute and chronic disease morbidity. Catheter-directed thrombolysis or pharmaco-mechanical catheter interventions are the most promising approaches. Safety of these treatment techniques is promising. However, more data is needed to support their routine use.
