Der BioBiteCorrector^® – eine modernisierte Herbst-Apparatur

Zusammenfassung

Der BioBiteCorrector^® (BBC) ist eine Weiterentwicklung der Herbst-Apparatur und deckt alle damit möglichen Indikationen ab. Das Gerät besteht aus 2 teleskopierenden Elementen, die verhindern, dass bei weiter oder seitlicher Mundöffnung die Apparatur auseinandergleitet. Die Befestigung erfolgt durch je eine Schraube direkt am Stahlbogen im Ober- und Unterkiefer. Bänder sind nicht zwingend erforderlich. Der Bogen muss mindestens eine Dimension von 0,017"×0,025" haben. Die Befestigungselemente sind mit dem Körper des BioBiteCorrector^® durch Kugelgelenke verbunden. Diese ermöglichen eine leichte Justierung der Apparatur sowie eine seitliche Mundöffnung. Dadurch sinkt die Belastung an den Befestigungsstellen und dies ermöglicht den Verzicht einer Verankerung der Apparatur an Bänder. Mit dem BioBiteCorrector^® lassen sich aber auch bandverankerte und herausnehmbare Geräte zur Therapie der Klasse II herstellen.

Abstract

The BioBiteCorrector^® (BBC) is a further developed Herbst appliance and is appropriate for all kinds of indications. The appliance consists of 2 telescoping bars preventing the appliance to “hang out” during wide mouth opening.

Fixation of the appliance is managed by a screw directly fixed on the steel archwires in the upper respectively in the lower jaw. The BBC does not necessarily need bands. The archwires must have a minimum size of 0,017"×0,025". Ball joints connect fixation elements and the body of the BBC. They allow easy adjustment of the appliance as well as lateral movements. At the same time they reduce loading and anchorage by bands becomes obsolete. However, band anchored and removable appliances can be produced with the BioBiteCorrector^® for Class II treatment.
