(Reflux)-Ösophagitis bei Hund und Katze – Eine schwierige Diagnose

Als Ösophagitis wird eine lokale oder diffuse Entzündung der Speiseröhrenmukosa bezeichnet, die entweder aus einer kaustischen (Säure, Alkali, Gallesäuren) oder einer chemischen (Medikamente) Irritation resultiert. Sie beginnt an der luminalen Oberfläche und breitet sich in die tieferen Schichten der Ösophaguswand aus. Reflux von Magensäure und Pepsin in den Ösophagus führt zu weiteren Schädigungen. Ob die beim Menschen so relevante Refluxerkrankung ebenfalls ein klinisch relevantes Problem bei Hund und Katze darstellt, wird in der Klinik des Autors momentan untersucht.
